Web 2.0 for Teachers - Syllabus

Description: This 5-day institute is an introduction to a variety of popular, Web 2.0 applications including blogs, wikis, del.icio.us, Google Docs, TeacherTube, and more. There will be lots of ‘sandbox’ time to explore applications and an opportunity to collaborate with colleagues and present a 2.0 project to the class. Anticipate about an hour’s worth of homework each night. Having access to a high-speed internet connection at home is a plus, but we can provide time before and after class if you don't.

Pre-requisites: Comfortable working in a Windows xp environment (the library’s digital classroom has pcs).

Goals/Objectives:

  • To introduce participants to a variety of popular Web 2.0 applications
  • To provide participants ‘sandbox’ time to explore current and emerging technologies
  • To prepare participants to integrate technology in their classes

Course Outline

Homework Before our first class:

  • Respond to SurveyMonkey survey
  • Create accounts on several Web 2.0 sites.

Day 1
