Getting Started
Google Lit Trips use Google Earth software to engage students in literature especially books where the main character or characters is on a physical journey. Google Earth v 4.3 is installed in the Digital Classroom. (Because of the the large amount of bandwidth Earth requires, students will have a much more successful experience if they work in groups and have only 4 or 5 computers using Google Earth at any given time.)

Resources
Jerome Burg is the 'father of Google Lit Trips' which he created as part of the Google Certified Teacher program. His website, http://googlelittrips.org is the best resource and has many student and teacher generated lit trips you can download. All Google Earth files have a .kmz extension and you need a free download of Google Earth software (http://earth.google.com) to view lit trips.
